The Bolero jacket is said to have been designed and made by legendary country singer Bob Wills in 1936.

Bolero is also a type of song that originated in eastern Cuba in the late 19th century as a form of romantic folk poetry, sung in a relaxed style similar to jazz, so Bolero jackets are also known as Musician jackets.
